Background
With China's economic development and scientific technology innovation and new discovery, nowadays, public is asking more for transport service. Safe, comfortable, fast, convenient are the main requirements of public to deal with fast-paced daily life and works. In China, the dominant form of transportation still is land transportation while water transport and air transportation takes a certain portion. In recent 20 years, Chinese high-speed road, super highways, passenger railways, intercity railways; railway express, urban metro and city transportation experienced a high speed development. During the years there are a lots advanced concepts E.g.: "Replace curves by directly line" "Dig holes through hills" and "Build tunnel under city ground" were applied to transportation construction. With the increase of underground works and tunnel construction, it is showing more risks and more construction difficulties during those years. The native characteristic of underground works and tunnel construction is exactly different from ground works. Issues as mechanical deformation, poor geological condition and high technology demand dramatically increase the risk ratio. At November 17, 2008 a subway tunnel collapse in Hangzhou killed 21 people; injured 19 people and almost all construction workers were buried under mud. Besides that there are 75 meters ground road collapsed before falling dawn 15 meters and there are about 11 cars fall into wallow…..The sorrow lesson reminds us to concentrate on underground works and tunnel construction safety issues. It also reminds us to pursue life and asset's safety in high speed development. Recent years, China state council announced RMB 4000 billion to invest in infrastructure construction and to pull domestic needs. Most of those State funds will be invested in railway, road, urban transportation construction programme and so on projects, underground works and tunnel construction are part of it. Before the new investment period coming , HNZ Industry Media Group cooperates with China Civil Engineering Society to host " Global Tunnel Congress? China 2012" concurrent activities includes "TUNNEL EXPO CHINA 2012" --The 5th China international Underground engineering & Technology Exhibition. The events will been held during April 2012 in National Convention Center. It will contribute to push underground works and tunnel construction technology development to enhance country detecting, designing and construction's technology and equipment information exchange. It will help build for underground works and tunnel construction industry a specified, efficient, authority platform. The summit will invite domestic and oversea government officials, tunnel owners, tunnel design and research institutes, quality supervision unit leaders and experts. Under "twelfth five year plan" instruction, summit is according the theme of "Underground works and tunnel construction implement safety" to make deep discussion and forecast industry hot issues and analyze typical industry case. It will set sub- forum e.g.: underground construction, tunnel shield, tunnel fire safety, tunnel lightening, tunnel water proof, tunnel special materials, tunnel project management. The summit will host to fit the development need of underground works and tunnel construction. Aiming to contribute to underground works and tunnel construction industry, it will be an international feast.
